Fourteen days, money back, no interrogation.
If Portfoleo is not what you needed, ask within fourteen days of your first payment and you get it back. There is no retention flow, no offer to keep you, and no phone call. The details below exist so nobody is surprised by an edge case, not to add conditions.
Checkout is not open, so nothing has been sold and nothing can yet be refunded. This policy takes effect with the first paid transaction. It is published now so that the terms are visible before anyone is asked for money rather than afterwards.
01What is covered
- Your first payment on an account, whether monthly, annual or a founding seat, refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of that payment.
- One refund per account, for its lifetime. That is the only condition, and it exists so the free tier does not have to be made worse to stop a refund-and-resubscribe loop.
- Any tax collected on that payment, refunded with it where the merchant of record supports it, which is the normal case.
- A duplicate or accidental charge, at any time, no window and no conditions. Tell us and we fix it.
- A charge after a cancellation that we failed to process. That is our error, and errors get refunded regardless of the window.
02How to request one
- Open the billing screen in the product and choose Request refund. If you are inside the window and have not had a refund before, it goes through without anyone reading it.
- If the button is not available — you are past the window, or this would be a second refund — write to [email protected] from the account email. A person reads it. Say what happened; it matters more than the rules do.
You do not have to give a reason. If you want to, the useful version is one sentence about what you expected and did not get, because that is the only feedback that changes what gets built.
03What happens, and when
- Immediately
- The refund is submitted to the merchant of record.
- On confirmation
- Your plan moves to the free tier. We wait for the provider to confirm the refund rather than downgrading optimistically, so you are never left in a state where the money has not moved but the access has.
- 5 to 10 business days
- Typical time for the money to appear on your statement. The exact timing is your card issuer’s, not ours, and we cannot speed it up.
- Your data
- Kept. A refund is a downgrade, not a deletion: over-limit resources become read-only rather than being dropped, retention is 90 days, and everything is restored the moment a new subscription starts. If you would rather it were gone, delete the account and it is purged within 30 days.
- Founding seat
- Released back to the pool so someone else can take it. If you later want back in and the cohort has closed, the seat is gone — that is what a capped cohort means, and it is the one genuinely irreversible thing on this page.
04What is prorated and what is not
| Situation | Prorated? | What actually happens |
|---|---|---|
| Refund inside the 14-day window | No — full refund | You get the whole first payment back even if you used the product every day of those fourteen. We do not deduct for usage. |
| Cancelling mid-period | No | No money comes back, and none is taken either: you keep the tier you paid for until the period ends, then the account moves to free. Nothing is deleted. |
| Cancelling an annual plan in month seven | No | You keep PRO for the remaining five months. If month seven is the first month and you are still inside 14 days of the payment, the refund rule above applies instead. |
| Upgrading mid-period | Yes | The merchant of record credits the unused part of the current plan against the new one and charges the difference. |
| Downgrading mid-period | No cash back | The change takes effect at the next renewal; you keep what you paid for until then. |
| Renewal payments | No | The 14-day guarantee covers your first payment. Renewals are not covered, which is why we send a renewal reminder before each one so cancelling in time is easy. |
| Second refund request | — | Not automatic. Write to support and tell us what happened; a genuine problem gets a genuine answer. |
| Account suspended for breach of the terms | No | No refund, for the obvious reason. We will tell you exactly which term and why. |
05Other things worth knowing
- Consumer rights come first. If your local law gives you a stronger cancellation or refund right — a statutory cooling-off period, for instance — that right applies and this policy does not reduce it.
- Talk to us before a chargeback. A chargeback costs us a fee and gets you the money slower than an email does. If something is wrong we will refund it; there is no scenario where filing a dispute is the faster route.
- The free tier is the real trial. It is permanent, it needs no card, and it opens on real data. Use it first — a refund you never needed to ask for is better than one that arrives promptly.
- We will not shrink this policy quietly. Any change to the refund window is announced on the changelog and applies only to payments made after it takes effect.
- Invoices are available in the billing portal at any time, including after a refund.
This policy forms part of the terms of service, which is currently an unreviewed draft. Refund handling depends on the merchant of record we appoint; the mechanics above describe what we are building to, and any difference between this page and what the shipped billing system does will be corrected here rather than argued about with you.
