Pricing

Priced like software, because that is what it is.

Portfoleo is an analytics terminal you point at your own data entitlements. We are not a data reseller, so there is no exchange mark-up in the price and no professional-user surcharge to pass on to you. The free tier is the whole instrument with counted limits, not a thin demo of a thick product.

Status — read this before you plan around a price

Checkout is not open yet. The ladder below is final and will not be moved between now and launch, but no payment page exists today and no seat can be bought. The founding cohort is capped at 250 seats; when the counter goes live it will show the true remaining number, and until then this page shows the cap rather than a fake countdown. There is no timer on this page and there will never be one.

unpriced

Not for sale. There is no price here on purpose.

A managed market-data tier where we carry the vendor relationship instead of you. It stays dark, and unpriced, until a signed redistribution agreement exists and the licence terms are published in our data-licence ledger. We will not take money for data we have not licensed, and we will not print a number we cannot honour.

Announced when signed, not before

Team
Multi-seat billing, shared workspaces and role separation are designed but not built. There is no team price today. When there is one it will appear here with a number, not a form. Until then, write to [email protected] and say what you need.
Self-host
The desktop and self-hosted build runs the same engine against a local database with the master key in your operating system keychain. Licensing for it is not settled; see the local-first section for exactly what that build does and does not send anywhere.
Academic and non-profit
Ask. We would rather give a seat away than watch a good use case bounce off a price.

02What a limit actually does

Every cap above is an integer in a plan table, not a feature that has been amputated. That distinction is the whole design: a free user sees the entire instrument working and runs into a counter, rather than seeing a hollowed-out product and guessing what the paid one looks like.

  • You see the counter before you hit it. The interface reads the resolved limit map and shows used-of-limit. It greys out what you cannot open instead of failing at click time.
  • Your own key lifts your own caps. Copilot has two separate counters: one for queries answered by our model account and one for queries answered by yours. Paste your key and the second counter is the one that applies, on every tier including Free.
  • Downgrades never delete data. If a subscription lapses, over-limit resources become read-only rather than being dropped: extra alert rules are disabled but kept, extra runs are hidden but kept. Retention is 90 days and everything is restored the moment payment succeeds.
  • Quota checks fail closed. The increment and the limit test are one database statement, so two concurrent requests cannot overshoot a cap. If the counter cannot be read, the request is denied rather than allowed.

03What the rest of the desk costs

Every figure below was read from a public pricing page or a vendor FAQ on 2026-07-26 and is reproduced with its own unit. Nothing is normalised, averaged or projected, because a normalised competitor price is an argument dressed as a fact.

Observed list prices, 2026-07-26. Vendors change prices without notice; treat this table as a dated reading, not a live quote. Portfoleo rows are our own published ladder.

Bloomberg Terminal ~$27,000 / yr Figure as cited by Godel Terminal’s own pricing FAQ.
LSEG Workspace ~$22,000+ / yr Same source.
FactSet $12,000 – $24,000 / yr Same source.
Godel Terminal $118 / moor from $996 / yr Their annual card carries a “Save 30%” chip. Their published footnote adds a $30 / month regulatory surcharge for FINRA-licensed users, in line with professional-subscriber data fees, taking it to $148 / mo or $996 / yr plus $360 / yr. Team and enterprise are a sales conversation.

TradingView $0 / 12.95 / 29.95 / 59.95 / 199.95per month, billed annually Basic, Essential, Plus, Premium, Ultimate. The ladder is countable limits: indicators per chart 5 / 10 / 25 / 50, charts per tab 2 / 4 / 8 / 16, alerts 20 / 100 / 400 / 1,000.
OpenBB $1,200 / yrSnowflake $500 / yr / seat Community tier is free with 20 copilot queries a day, extendable by supplying your own model key. Pro is custom-priced.
Portfoleo PRO $690 / yror $69 / mo No surcharge for professional users. You connect your own entitlements.
Portfoleo FOUNDING $399 / yrlocked 250 seats, then closed. The lock is against future PRO price increases.
The surcharge line

A terminal that redistributes exchange data has to pass exchange fees through to you, which is why a competitor has to publish a professional-user surcharge. Portfoleo does not resell exchange data at all: you connect an entitlement you already hold, so your professional status and its fees stay between you and your provider, and your plan price does not change because of them.

04Shipped, and not shipped

Publishing the gap costs nothing and prevents the most common reason anyone asks for their money back: buying for something that turned out to be a roadmap item.

05Questions about money

Is there a free tier, and is there a trial?

There is a free tier and it is permanent. There is no separate trial, because a trial that expires is a worse version of a free tier that does not. Free carries the whole terminal on the bundled data snapshot with counted limits; it is not a feature-stripped build.

What is the difference between monthly and annual?

The product is identical. Monthly is $69, which is $828 over a year. Annual is $690 paid up front, about 17% less, which works out at $57.50 a month. You save $138 a year. Annual is the default selection on this page because it is the cheaper one, not because it is the one we prefer to sell.

What is the refund policy?

Fourteen days, money back, on your first payment, one per account. The full terms, including what is prorated and what is not, are on the refund page.

Can I cancel, and where?

Yes, from the billing screen inside the product, with no email required and no retention conversation. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the tier you paid for until the end of the period you already bought, and then the account moves to Free. Your data is not deleted when that happens.

Do I need my own API keys to start?

No. Every account, including Free, opens on a bundled snapshot of real market data, so the first screen is a populated terminal rather than an empty grid and a setup wizard. Keys are step three, not step one. When you do add one, the badge on screen changes from snapshot to your provider, and the provenance chip on every figure changes with it.

What data is included, and how fresh is it?

A frozen snapshot with a published build date, a manifest, and an explicit list of what it excludes. The snapshot badge cannot be dismissed, the as-of date is stamped on the data rather than on the marketing, and the badge changes its wording when the snapshot passes its staleness threshold. If you want figures newer than the snapshot, you connect your own data entitlement.

I hold a FINRA registration, or I use this at a firm. Is there a surcharge?

No. Portfoleo does not resell exchange data, so there is no professional-subscriber fee for us to pass through. Your entitlement, your status, and any professional fees stay in the agreement you already have with your data provider, and your plan price is the same as anyone else’s. Do check your own vendor agreement covers the way you intend to use it — that part is yours.

Can Portfoleo place a trade?

No, and not as a setting either. The hosted build does not contain broker or execution code at all: those modules are excluded from the image and a test asserts they are absent from the running process. Paper books are simulated against snapshot marks, every paper surface is labelled as simulated in the interface and in every export, and live trading is not a feature we sell. The architectural detail is on the security page.

Is any of this investment advice?

No. Portfoleo computes and cites; it does not recommend, and no part of it creates an advisory or fiduciary relationship. See the terms for the full statement.

What happens to my data and my API keys?

Keys are encrypted at rest with a per-organisation key, are never written to the environment, never appear in a log or an error report, and are never returned by any endpoint — not even the value you just submitted. The mechanism, and the honest limits of that claim, are set out on the security page rather than summarised into an adjective here.

Can I use it commercially, or at my firm?

Yes, a paid seat is a commercial seat. Two caveats that are yours to check: your own data-vendor agreement governs what you may do with the data you connect, and your employer’s compliance policy governs whether you may use an outside tool at all. We do not resell data and cannot extend anyone else’s licence to you.

Is there an API?

Read access on Founding at 60 requests a minute; read and write on PRO at 300. Free has no API access. Tokens are per organisation, scoped, revocable, and never reuse a session cookie.

How does this compare with a Bloomberg or FactSet seat?

It does not, on breadth, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. Those seats carry a trading-desk bundle, a global data licence and a support organisation. Portfoleo is the daily research workflow — charts, fundamentals, filings, screening, portfolio and risk analytics, and an AI copilot that shows its arithmetic — at about 2.5% of a Bloomberg list price, on data you already pay for.

How does this compare with Godel Terminal?

They are the closest competitor and they are good. The honest difference is not price, it is architecture: Godel serves you data it has licensed, which is why it has to publish a regulatory surcharge and why the relationship is increasingly a sales call. Portfoleo brings your own keys, cites the source of every figure, and can run entirely on your own machine. If you want a vendor to carry the data relationship for you, they are the better answer today.

What happens when I hit a limit?

The response tells you which counter, what you used, what the limit is, and when it resets. Nothing is deleted and nothing is silently dropped. Over-limit resources go read-only rather than disappearing.

When does checkout open?

When the payment provider, the legal review and the data-licence decision are all done, and not before. We would rather publish the ladder early and the button late than take money on a page that promises something the build cannot do yet. Watch the changelog.

Prices exclude any sales tax, VAT or GST, which the merchant of record calculates and collects at checkout for your jurisdiction. We never see or store card details. Figures for other vendors on this page were observed on 2026-07-26 from their public pricing pages and are reproduced for comparison only; they are their prices, not ours, and they may have changed since.
